2020 Writers Edition - Limited 8600
The Montblanc Writers Edition 2020 is dedicated to Victor Hugo(1802-1885). Victor Marie Hugo was a French writer, poet, essayist and statesman and is considered one of the most important and influential French Romantic authors of the 19th century. He has written novels, poems, plays, essays and political speeches, and also left an extensive exchange of letters.Hugo's first major novel, Notre-Dame de Paris (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), was published in 1831. The work was so successful that it was soon translated into several European languages. It was partly intended to encourage the city of Paris to restore the neglected Notre Dame Cathedral. In addition, novels were also published, such as the famous novel Les Misérables (1862), in which Hugo turned away from social criticism. Today, Les Misérables is seen as a literary masterpiece and has been edited several times for television, film and musical.
The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Hugo Limited Edition, made of black precious resin with platinum-coated fittings, is dedicated to this literary genius whose life and works shaped the French nation. The edition is inspired in many details by Victor Hugo’s novel and by Notre-Dame. The cap is decorated with gothic arches in relief, and the end of the clip, which is shaped like the clapper of a bell, recalls the bell ringer Quasimodo and the bells of Notre-Dame. Victor Hugo’s signature is engraved on the cap.
